Every once and awhile, a girl just needs to go to Ulta and spend a fortune on beauty products. I mean, am I right or am I right? Especially in the dead of winter. With my first military ball and celebrating our first Valentine’s Day with JP within a week of each other, I knew my skin and lips needed some serious TLC.
I’ve never really been the type to fawn over beauty products but the gems I’ve picked up this month are just too good not to share with y’all. Each of these items has become a serious staple in my (new) skincare routine (because I have one now). I guess this is an adult thing, because I never really had one before. But now I’ve found myself craving the cooling sensation of a good moisturizer and a good lip scrub. Here’s my must-have list:
Miceller Cleansing Water
On a whim, I picked up this beauty at the beginning of the month. The Garnier Skin Active Miceller Cleansing Water is an All-in-one cleanser and makeup remover. It comes it two varieties, mine is the Sensitive Skin solution and the other (which is blue) is more of a waterproof makeup remover. I love this product and it will definitely be a staple from here on out. Simple squirt a little onto a cotton round and instantly wipe away the makeup, dirt, and sweat of the day! I love this beauty product so much that I even use it in the mornings when I wake up. I was a huge fan of makeup wipes before I found this baby but the cleansing water is so much gentler on your skin and doesn’t require hardly any abrasive rubbing like makeup wipes almost always do. It leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed, even after a long run. I’m honestly thinking about snagging another bottle (or two) for my gym bag!
The second beauty product I’m loving after literally only a day, is also buy Garnier. (I’ve seriously never loved their products so much)! Anyways, if you have super dry skin that normal moisturizer’s make oily, you have to try this Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel-Cream! Seriously, I had all but given up on trying to find a happy medium for my skin. Like most people, my skin gets seriously dried out in the winter. I’m sure spending hours on the slope isn’t helping. To make matters even worse, moisturizers tend to either do nothing for me or make my skin way to oily causing major breakouts. No one wants that, especially with so many major milestones happening! I knew the minute I opened this cute little pink concoction that we were going to be fast friends. This moisturizer is soothing and cool on your skin but virtually disappears once absorbed. No more post moisturizer oil for this girl!
Minty Face Mask
Have you ever found something at random and then never been able to find it again? In college, on a beauty product run to Walgreen’s, my then roommate and I at the time came across this amazing face mask that smelled like dream. To this day, I still haven’t been able to find it. But, when I was working in DC, I found a product by Lush that I fell in love with that also had the same mint smell and feeling that I was looking for. Unfortunately, and for some reason I can’t understand, upstate New York is seriously against Lush. There isn’t a one to be found. The hunt was on for another minty mask and I have found the perfect one: The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask. I love this baby. Give me this face mask, a glass of wine, and a relaxing bubble bath and I don’t have a worry in the world for at least an hour. This mask is so creamy dreamy and minty, you just have to experience it. It cools and soothes your skin, perfect for the dry February air!
I don’t wear lipstick as much as I used to before JP, but I love this Lip Strip from Laura Geller! It’s a sugar scrub that comes in a lipgloss-esque tube for easy application! I’ve never tried a lip scrub before and honestly thought “what’s the point” until I tried this baby. I just run it around my lips and rub my lips together like I would for lip balm, then once the sugar has dissolved, I take a cotton round with a bit of water and wipe the dead skin away. It’s crazy to see how much dead skin hangs around on your lips. Yuck. Winter is hard on your lips too, and this lip scrub is the perfect little extra bit of care your lips need this week. Bonus, it tastes and smells like vanilla. This lip scrub is definitely a new beauty product staple. I use it nearly twice a day and my lips have never been more smooth!
Chubby Moisturizing Lip Balm
I have been a huge fan of the Clinique chubby lip sticks for a few years now, but just recently stumbled upon what is probably my new favorite beauty product of all time. The Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint line is different than their regular chubbies for a few reasons. One, its super moisturizing. It feels like a lip balm, without all the mess of traditional ones. Second, these colors bloom on contact with your skin to enhance your natural lip color. The chubby I have, seen in Budding Blossom, looks like a super light baby pink but goes on somewhat rosy on me! I absolutely love it. I had originally bought this chubby to wear to JP’s class event but forgot it. No matter, it has quickly become my go-to lip wear! It looks and feels like a gloss for a while and when that wears off, you still get some of the color. It’s seriously wonderful.
