I’m a firm believer that going to a military ball is as close as you can get to being a fairy tale princess. Being on JP’s arm this past Saturday night as his class celebrated their accomplishments in (almost) two full years at the academy is one of the highest honors I have received in my short 23 years. Yearling Winter Weekend, the class event for Yearlings (Sophomores at normal colleges) was my first major military formal. As you can imagine, trying to make sure ever little detail of your outfit is perfect can get a little stressful.
My dress cost me an entire $10 and it was actually my backup dress. My original dress had an unfortunate incident with the tailor. Regardless, I think it worked out for the better. I absolutely love my dress. It’s classy and chic and was perfect for the occasion. I felt comfortable and confident enough to eat and dance, most importantly, I felt amazing enough to focus on the amazing man I’m lucky enough to be dating.
My style inspiration for each piece of my outfit was to be sophisticated, simple, and classic and I really think the entire look pulled together quite nicely. New York in February is pretty cold, but my favorite faux leather jacket that I picked up from Forever 21 a few years ago (whoa, like junior year of college) was the perfect cover up. I love the peep toe of the heels (which killed my feet because they had to be long enough so I wouldn’t step on the dress) and the lace design on the bag which was the most expensive part of the entire outfit.
Overall, the evening was perfect and I wouldn’t change anything. Except maybe finding this dress first.
Be still, my heart.
