Well, the time you’ve all been patiently waiting for is finally here. The official first post of Oh Shift, Y’all! I can’t thank you all enough for standing by me while I went through some growing pains on the blogging front. After years of trying to fit into the blogging world, I feel as though I’ve finally found my happy place. For those of you that are new here, the past year has been a very transitional period of time for me. I graduated from West Virginia University (Let’s Go Mountaineers!), started working in Washington, D.C., moved to New York where I started a two year long internship and started my first romantic relationship in years. With all the growth happening around me, I just felt as though I was outgrowing The Anxiety Girl Online and decided to start again.
Why Oh Shift, Y’all?
In my opinion, naming your blog is always the most difficult part in the process of starting a blog. So What is in a blog name? A lot of bloggers have their opinions and I would be lying if I said I hadn’t read a bunch of their posts about coming up with a name. While it was all really great advice (I really enjoyed this post by Elle & Co.) I still struggled coming up with a name that I could really see myself loving for a long time. I can’t remember exactly what I was doing when the name Oh Shift, Y’all popped into my head… but that’s exactly what happened. It just appeared there like a magical Unicorn. I mulled it over for a while before deciding that it was perfect. By now you’re probably wondering exactly why I think it’s perfect, aren’t you? Well, if you know me, you know I tend to cuss like a sailor (or as my boyfriend will correct, “a soldier,” BEAT NAVY!) and I also tend to say Y’all a lot. I couldn’t really use the explicative (is that a word) version for my new blog name so I decided to substitute a T for an F and ta-da! We had a blog name. It was even more perfect due to the fact that I love… and I mean LOVE shift dresses. I would wear one every day of the week if I had enough of them (especially my navy blue scalloped number from J. Crew). So, that’s how the name Oh Shift, Y’all stuck and became the most perfect Unicorn of a name.
What can we expect?
If you’re familiar with the kind of content I posted at The Anxiety Girl Online, then you can expect more of the same… only better! I want this blog to build upon what I set out to do with The Anxiety Girl Online while staying true to the person I am now (a 20-something professional trying to find the proper balance between work, school, and my personal life). There will still be posts about anxiety, fashion, school, work, and love advice, all the common posts one has come to expect from a good Life + Style blog. I also hope to post some of my creative writing (I have a lot of great ideas I think you’ll like).
I’m in! What now?
